FoxTrot et al

2007-08-13

I like the FoxTrot comic strip by Bill Amend as well as my husband and daughter.  We can all identify with the family life and issues presented very cleverly.

I found two collections, one at a yard sale and one in a book shop.  My son took an interest in them, particularly the character Jason, and I am happy that he is reading them since he is a reluctant reader.  So that is good news.

The bad news (although my "bad week" ended, or has it?), our Sunday paper has changed format and they decided NOT to run this comic on Sundays any more. SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF.

I guess we shall have to resort to reading it online once a week.  The site has other interesting tidbits too.

The Enchanted Forest, (an historical Storybook Park - you can find a link for info. on it in my blog), was featured twice in Zippy's strip!

Bizzaro -- which reminds me of Zippy the Pinhead for some strange reason. Thanks for sharing that!

Buddy, thanks for sharing such a wonderful story of kindness. That was really a great memorable thing Mr. Amend did. Now I was a First Class Girl Scout long ago, do you think if I wrote to him, I could get the same treatment?

I have to share an interesting story. Well, at least it's interesting to me, and it says something really nice about Bill Amend. I read in his bio that he's an Eagle Scout. Back around the turn of the century (this one, not the 20th) I was a Scoutmaster and one of my guys made Eagle. I wrote to Bill Amend and asked him to send this young fellow a congratulatory note. Well, he went way better than that. He send the kid an original page of a FoxTrot Sunday strip! That, to me, went way beyond cool. I miss FoxTrot, too. I identified with Roger. :) BT
